7 Truths about the Importance of Fellowship to Share

One of our purposes in life is fellowship. We have ideas of what it is, but often they are inaccurate or insufficient. We need to take a little time to understand what we are talking about. Some people think of fellowship as just a casual conversation, or eating out together, or getting together after church, usually with food involved. Those things are good, but they are not the substance of biblical fellowship.

The word the Bible uses most often for fellowship means “that which is common.” You may have heard the Greek word used in the New Testament – koinonia. In fact, the language in which the New Testament is written is called Koine Greek because it was the common language of the day. It was the everyday language people spoke on the streets. Something that is common is something shared. So, the New Testament used this term to refer to sharing together, or participation together, and partnership. To have fellowship is to enjoy a shared relationship. It involves sharing life together. Below are seven inspiring quotes about the importance of fellowship and what fellowship has to do with joy.
