7 Pastor Resources Quotes on Ministry Life & How to Sustain Faith

The writer of Hebrews addressed Christians who faced the very real threat of impending persecution because of their faith in Christ. To make it easier on themselves, they were considering returning to their pre-Christian lifestyle. They weren’t going to give up on Jesus, just keep Him hidden. He’d be in the trunk, as a spare for when they needed Him. But look at the following verse from Hebrews.

“But my righteous one shall live by faith, and if he shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him,” (Hebrews 10:38, ESV).

Shrinking back is lacking the confidence that God is sufficient for whatever He asks us to do. Faith is moving forward based not on our strength or ability, but on God’s.
